What the card is built around
The World of Hyatt Credit Card is a co-branded hotel card designed for travelers who stay at Hyatt properties regularly. Its value centers on stacking card bonus points with World of Hyatt member base earning at hotels, an annual free night certificate, automatic elite status, and a path to faster status progression through elite night credits tied to everyday spending. Points earned are World of Hyatt points — not Chase Ultimate Rewards — and are redeemed within the World of Hyatt program.
Multiplier details that matter
Hyatt hotel earning
The 4x card bonus at Hyatt hotels is in addition to, not instead of, base World of Hyatt member earning. Members typically earn 5 base points per $1 at Hyatt properties, so combining card bonus with member earning can result in up to 9 total points per $1. Actual totals depend on your membership tier, property participation, and World of Hyatt program terms.
Airline tickets
The 2x rate applies to airline tickets purchased directly from airlines, not through third-party booking platforms. Confirm with Chase how specific purchases code before counting on the elevated rate.
Fitness and Peloton
Fitness club and gym memberships, including Peloton memberships and equipment purchases, are listed as a 2x category. Peloton equipment coding can vary; verify with Chase if a specific purchase will qualify.
Loyalty program and elite status
Points earned with this card are World of Hyatt points, redeemable within the World of Hyatt program only — they are not Chase Ultimate Rewards and cannot be transferred to other Chase travel partners. The primary cardmember receives automatic World of Hyatt Discoverist status each year the card is held. Discoverist benefits include a 10% bonus on Base Points earned at Hyatt properties, complimentary premium internet, preferred room selection at check-in, and access to Club lounge spaces where available, subject to World of Hyatt program terms.
The card also includes an anniversary free night award valid at any Category 1–4 World of Hyatt hotel or resort. If you spend $15,000 in a calendar year, you earn a second free night award, also redeemable at Category 1–4 properties. Award availability, blackout dates, and property participation rules apply and are governed by World of Hyatt program terms.
The card provides 5 tier-qualifying night credits toward World of Hyatt elite status each year. You also earn 2 additional tier-qualifying night credits for every $5,000 spent on the card, with no stated cap. These credits count toward Explorist (30 nights), Globalist (60 nights), and Milestone Rewards thresholds. The World of Hyatt elite tier structure and night requirements are set by Hyatt and subject to change.
Statement credits and additional benefits
How to value the free night certificates
Category 1–4 Hyatt properties span budget and mid-tier options. The certificate is most valuable at the upper end of Category 4, where cash rates can be $150–$300 or more per night depending on market and dates — but award availability varies and is not guaranteed. The conservative approach: identify specific properties you would actually stay at, check award availability in your target period, and compare against the cash rate for those nights. Do not assume the highest possible cash value when budgeting the card's offset against the annual fee.
Redemption analysis
Hotel stays
World of Hyatt points are redeemed for hotel stays within the World of Hyatt program. Hyatt has moved toward dynamic pricing on award stays, meaning point costs vary by date and property. Published award charts and peak/off-peak pricing provide a baseline, but actual redemption costs should be verified in the Hyatt booking tool before targeting a specific rate.
Points pooling
Points earned with the card are deposited into your World of Hyatt account and can be combined with points earned from hotel stays and other Hyatt sources. Points do not expire as long as your World of Hyatt Credit Card account remains open, according to Chase's published terms.
Other uses
World of Hyatt points can also be used for experiences, transfers to airline miles, and other non-stay redemptions, but hotels have historically produced the strongest per-point value. Non-hotel redemptions should be evaluated on their own merits.
Insurance and protections
The World of Hyatt Credit Card includes several protections when eligibility requirements are met. Coverage depends on how the trip, ticket, or rental is paid for; read the applicable benefit guide before relying on any protection.
What is not included
The World of Hyatt Credit Card does not earn Chase Ultimate Rewards points; points earned are World of Hyatt points redeemable only within the Hyatt loyalty program. The card does not include complimentary airport lounge access. The free night certificates are limited to Category 1–4 Hyatt properties, which excludes the highest-tier Hyatt hotels. Status granted by the card is Discoverist — the first elite tier — and does not include the higher-tier perks of Explorist or Globalist status.
Fit checklist
- You stay at Hyatt properties at least once or twice per year and would use a Category 1–4 free night certificate.
- You want automatic Discoverist status without meeting the 10-qualifying-night threshold through stays alone.
- You spend meaningfully in at least one of the 2x categories: restaurants, airlines, transit, or fitness.
- You are comfortable earning World of Hyatt points rather than a more flexible rewards currency.
- You want elite night credits that count toward status faster than hotel stays alone would provide.
